The soft opening of the Mercato Metropolitano was a huge success as the Italian style food market opened its doors to the public in the South of Borough, Elephant and Castle. Dialogue Agency went down to sample the atmosphere on 21st July for an evenings exploration of Italys finest small producers, farmers and artisan products.
The market was full of different food stalls, all set in the Old Paperworks, surrounding a sociable benched seating area for people to relax, meet friends and really enjoy the cuisine they had chosen.
We explored a hugely diverse range of products; from cheese, coffee, meat, pizza, ice cream to fish and pasta. Anything Italian you can think of its there. Aside from that, the market is also full of Italian drinks such as wine from a huge range of regions, Prosecco and artisan beer. We particularly enjoyed a glass of Prosecco matched with a delicious charcuterie plate!
Walking around the market, one could spot a few of The Dialogue Agencys clients, with Parmigiano Reggiano standing out amongst the cheese stalls and the Parma Ham regally being showcased for the public to enjoy.
It is hard to think that Mercato Metropolitano still isnt fully ready and that the official opening is yet to come in September. Exciting times ahead for the area of South of Borough with its new Italian residents and a foodie heaven!
